A Litany For Mothers in Need
Hail, O Lady, Mother of God, My Mother, whose Heart was pierced with a sword
of sorrow! Hail, O Redemption of the tears of Eve! Intercede now for all mothers
in need—that their tears may be redeemed in the Precious Blood of Your Son
and that your Immaculate Heart will be their refuge in all the storms of life.
Lord Jesus, Merciful Redeemer, I humbly implore You to place all mothers,
especially those in most need, in your Sacred Heart and in the Immaculate Heart
of your Mother as I pray:
For mothers who lost children in miscarriage or infancy,
R. Redeem their pain and renew their hearts.
For mothers of children who were murdered or died in accidents,
For mothers of children who have died from illness,
For mothers who have heroically chosen adoption,
For mothers of aborted children,
For mothers who lost children to suicide,
For mothers of missing children,
For mothers who are separated from their children,
For mothers of suffering children,
For mothers of children with disabilities,
For mothers of mentally ill children,
For mothers of abused children,
For mothers of fallen away children,
For mothers of imprisoned or addicted children,
For mothers of estranged children,
For mothers in the midst of difficult pregnancies,
R. Lead them to healing, hope, and holiness
For mothers who cannot provide for their children,
For mothers who are suffering with illness or disability,
For mothers who are emotionally or mentally ill,
For mothers who are widowed, abandoned or in need of support and friendship,
For mothers who struggle with fertility issues,
For mothers who are ensnared by the culture of death,
For mothers who have no faith in God and have not handed on faith to theiir children,
For mothers who are single or divorced,
For mothers who have never known a mother’s love,
For mothers who struggle with an addiction,
For mothers who have neglected or abused their children,
For mothers who are exploited in any way, or do not understand their dignity as woman,
For mothers who are faced with crisis,
For mothers who are tempted, anxious, or afraid,
Let us pray:
O Lord Jesus Christ, Savior and Redeemer, in bringing about the Redemption
through suffering, You have also raised human suffering to the level of the
Redemption. And so with confidence, my Jesus, I bring to You the hearts of all
mothers and place them at the Foot of Your Cross. Healer of Souls, bring your
healing to the souls of my sisters who are in most need. Transform their anguish
into hope, their failure into creative love, and their distress into trusting
abandonment. Jesus, I trust in You. My Jesus, Mercy! Amen.
